Earlier this week Florida Panthers unveiled a chic new Ice rink design with a Logo made of ice in the middle as befits their status as Stanley Cup winners.

It’s a slick new design with the return of the shield in the logo and some other new additions.

“This year our sign is making its way back to center ice,” the Florida Panthers wrote on X (Twitter) alongside a photo of the new design that will be on display at Amerant Bank Arena this fall.

“And for the first time in franchise history, the circle is filled red.

“The sun looks a little different in South Florida,” the description continued.

“The shield is placed over the sun’s rays and is inspired by the embossed pattern of the Stanley Cup.”

Unfortunately for the Florida Panthers organization, they were second when it came to unveiling the new ice rink design.

David Rodriguez, presenter of FLA Cats Hockey Podcast, actually shared it first.

Oops.

However, Rodriguez wasn’t the one who took the photo of the Panthers’ new ice, so he’s fine.

The same cannot be said of the person who did take the photo anyway.

According to Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640 South Florida, this photo was taken and shared by a Panthers employee. Or, well, a former Panthers employees.

“The employee who took this photo was fired, as several sources told me,” Slater wrote on X in response to the leaked photo.

“The new logo in the middle of the field … leaked on social media before the Florida Panthers were scheduled to unveil it.”

Many hockey fans thought the firing of the employee who took and shared the photo was a bit harsh.

“Fired?!”, a fan commented“That seems kind of extreme…”

“It’s just a hockey rink, relax, Panthers,” someone else wrote.

“They only win one trophy in their entire pathetic lives and it immediately goes to their heads,” said another comment. read.
