Andre 3000 releases “album film” “Listening To The Sun”: Watch

Late last year, reclusive and mercurial OutKast legend André 3000 re-entered the public eye in an unexpected way. Since OutKast disbanded, Three Stacks has contributed guest verses whenever he felt like it, but despite passionate public calls for a solo album, he said in an interview that at age 48, “sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don’t have anything to talk about in that way.” Instead, he picked up a set of flutes and dove deep into the world of ambient and new-age spiritual jazz for the album. New blue sun. André has done quite a bit of press for the album and toured more than I expected. And now he’s promoting it with a full-length “album film.”

Listen to the sunwhich premiered today, complements the album’s meditative music with footage of André strolling through a blue room, lighting candles and deep in thought. It spans the entire length of the 88-minute album, and you can watch it in full below if you’d like.
