Tips for traveling on Labor Day at Fresno Yosemite International Airport

Tips for traveling on Labor Day at Fresno Yosemite International Airport

Fresno Yosemite International Airport experiences heavy travel traffic over Labor Day weekend, with Friday being the busiest day, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Here is a list of airport tips for travelers:

Come early

Passengers are strongly advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure for domestic flights and at least three hours before departure for international flights. The busiest times at the checkpoint are 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. – midnight.

Prepare for TSA security checkpoint

Pack smart by starting with empty bags. When passengers pack empty bags for travel, they are less likely to bring prohibited items through a TSA checkpoint. Check the What Can I Bring? page on TSA.gov for prohibited items.

Read the TSA’s 3-1-1 liquids rule for liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on luggage.

Electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops or game consoles and other personal valuables should be stored in your personal or carry-on baggage, not in your checked baggage.

Passengers who require additional assistance during the security screening process are asked to contact TSA Cares.

Be prepared for anything. Have your photo ID and boarding pass ready in case you are asked for them unexpectedly. This will avoid delays in the screening process.

Monitor airline flight status

Download airline apps to receive real-time updates such as flight status, boarding times, gate numbers and other important announcements.

Travelers are advised to contact their airline immediately if their flight is affected.

You should keep medication with you if your checked baggage is delayed or checked at the gate.

Plan parking, ground transportation and passenger pickup

Demand for parking spaces is very high during peak travel times. Think about an alternative parking space in case your preferred parking space is no longer available when you arrive.

The drop-off and pick-up area for rideshare, Fresno Area Express (FAX) and V-Line is located in front of the terminal departure curb on the median.

The Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) and taxi service are located across the median from baggage claim.

There is a free cell phone waiting area near the terminal to accommodate friends and family members picking up arriving passengers. Drivers must remain with their vehicles.
