According to broadcaster, microphones will be muted during ABC presidential debate

The first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will have similar rules to the debate between
Trump and President Joe Biden.

According to the Associated Press, Harris and Trump’s microphones are muted while the other person speaks.

The Harris team had pushed for the microphones to remain on “for the entire duration of the debate to enable a comprehensive exchange of content between the candidates.”

However, the Trump team said it was adhering to the rules previously agreed upon at the debate between Trump and Biden – before the president dropped out of the race.

Other rules for the Sept. 10 ABC debate include no written notes being taken and no live audience being present, The Associated Press reported.

David Muir and Linsey Davis will reportedly moderate the debate, which will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Vice presidential candidates Tim Walz and JD Vance are scheduled to participate in a debate hosted by CBS on October 1.

The calendar for this year’s fall presidential debates was more uncertain than in previous years because the bipartisan Presidential Debate Commission no longer organizes and hosts the events due to opposition from both parties.
