Michigan Sports Director Warden Manuel is dissatisfied with the fact that information related to the NCAA’s investigation into the Wolverines sign-stealing scandal continues to leak.

Before the NCAA officially announces any news, they first inform media representatives. Manuel believes the leaks are a major problem and must be stopped.

“Well, first of all, I think it is completely unacceptable and ridiculous that people who have or receive information about what is going on are releasing it to the press and the public,” Warde Manuel said in an interview with The Michigan Insider.

Manuel and Michigan have tried to find the cause of the leaks, but so far they have been unsuccessful.

“We’re trying to find it. We’re just not letting it slip through. We’re actively trying to figure out where these leaks are coming from, especially when it’s traced back to us,” Manuel said. “The problem is that it’s hard to get to the bottom of it. That doesn’t mean we’re going to stop trying, because it really doesn’t help the process.”

Warde Manuel added that while some of the leaked information was correct, some was inaccurate, but due to the ongoing investigation, he could not respond to inaccurate reports.

He firmly believes the leaks are unfair to Michigan and its football program.

“It doesn’t help the University of Michigan move forward. It doesn’t help the NCAA. Whoever leaks this, it doesn’t help us solve the cases,” Manuel said. “And it just brings things out into the open — in some cases, some of them are wrong. Some things I can’t respond to if they’re wrong. We feel like we can’t talk about it publicly. But still, people are leaking things about the case. It’s just disappointing and unnecessary and sad.”

Warde Manuel says the assumption that he does not want to keep Jim Harbaugh is “completely wrong”

Michigan Life is just beginning in the post-Jim Harbaugh Era, but there are still some misunderstandings about the process of his departure, said the sports director Warden Manuel.

Manuel joined The Michigan Insider for an interview and rejected the idea that he let Harbaugh go without a fight.

“All of this stuff that’s out there, man, it’s just ridiculous,” Warde Manuel said. “And again, it’s not that we didn’t have differences. We did. But the feeling that people have out there is just completely wrong when they say I don’t want Jim Harbaugh around and I’m not doing enough to keep him.”

Harbaugh, of course, left the band to work for the Los Angeles Chargers right after winning a national title at Michigan. Things never went better in college, but Harbaugh still had the NFL bug.
