Max Dresens’ trajectory continues to point upwards.

Wayland’s senior running back missed his entire sophomore year due to injury, then was named MVP of the Dual County League as a junior.

On Thursday, he secured his future as a college football player, committing to play at Bucknell University next fall. The Bison offered Dresens a partial scholarship in early August after he attended their training camp in mid-July.

Dresens also had an offer from RPI at the Division III level. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker/running back attended training camps at Lafayette and Villanova and visited Brown, Villanova and New Hampshire.

Bucknell finished 4-7 in 2023 and last in the Patriot League (1-5). The Bison open the 2024 season at noon Saturday at Navy.

Wayland will open its 2024 season at home against Hopkinton on September 13.

Dresens set Wayland’s single-season record with 1,762 rushing yards last season, surpassing the previous record set by Brandon Anderson in 2003. He scored a total of 24 touchdowns.

The Warriors advanced to the Division 4 state tournament and he was named All-State.
