Louisville football team vs. Austin Peay: Three players to watch

The Louisville football team kicks off its season on Saturday afternoon, ready to show that they can be even better than last season in their second season under the leadership of Jeff Brohm. Ten wins was pretty impressive, but the Cardinals believe they can be even better.

They start the season with a game against Austin Peay. The Governors go into the game as total underdogs. The Cardinals still have to go out and win the game. Brohm will preach that this team has a “one game at a time” mentality. It doesn’t matter who they play.

This game could also get hectic if the weather forecast continues as it has so far. If that happens, Louisville will have to buckle down and really make sure they play well. Still, there is no reason to worry that they will lose.

There are three players Louisville football fans should keep an eye on in this game to see how good these guys will be for the rest of the season when the schedule gets a little more challenging. However, the first two games should be pretty easy.

The first player to keep an eye on is the new starting quarterback.

The Cardinals now have a new starting quarterback in Tyler Shough. Shough is playing at another school for the third time in his career. This is his last chance to lead a program and be a starter. In his sixth year of eligibility, he hopes to finally stay healthy and have a good year.

Health is key for Shough. He’s never managed to stay healthy for an entire season. When he’s been healthy, he’s actually been pretty good. The most games he’s ever played in a season is seven. If the Cardinals meet all their goals, he’ll need to play twice as many games this year.

How Shough looks in the opening game will give the Cardinals insight into what to expect for the rest of the season. It will also be interesting to see who he can build chemistry with. The receivers on this team will need to make sure someone from that group steps in.

I think Shough will play well against Austin Peay. I think he can throw well and should score at least three touchdowns. Shough is talented, there’s no denying that. He just needs to put it all together and stay on the field. For him to come out of this game healthy is victory enough.

The second player to watch in this game is also a transfer who will play a key role in the offense.
