Lauren Boebert’s challenger invites her to debate in the infamous Beetlejuice theater

Lauren Boebert’s challenger invites her to debate in the infamous Beetlejuice theater

The Democrat, who is running against Republican Lauren Boebert of Colorado, challenged her to a debate at the site of the scandalous Beetlejuice incident.

Trisha Calvarese invited Boebert to a televised debate at the Buell Theater, the Denver venue from which the congresswoman was ejected during the musical. Beetlejuice last September after vaping, singing, taking flash photos, and groping her date.

Calvarese published an ad on X on Thursday in the style of Beetlejuice 2 Movie trailer.

The video begins with someone asking, “Lauren Boebert’s e-cigarettes?”

Then the ad turns into a parody of the cult classic. “On November 5th, your worst nightmare will try to crawl back into Congress. Don’t say her name,” the new ad says. “Boebert. Boebert. Boebert,” news anchors can be heard saying.

“Representative Boebert, I know you’re new to the district. And you obviously don’t know how to behave in a theater – or in Congress. I think I can help. Let’s get together for a televised debate,” Calvarese says, holding a bag of popcorn in a movie theater.

After a series of controversies, Boebert switched her seat from Colorado’s Third District to the more conservative Fourth District, where a seat had become vacant following the resignation of Representative Ken Buck.

“I know the last time you were in a theater, you got into an argument with the staff. And hey, maybe you won’t get kicked out this time. You’re not afraid, are you?” the Democrat said with a wink.

On X, Calvarese wrote: “Lauren Boebert as a congresswoman is truly terrifying – as is her behavior in the movies. But I am Trisha Calvarese and on November 5th I will become her worst nightmare and defeat her at the polls.”

The incident has haunted Boebert for nearly a year.

She initially denied that it had ever happened, but apologized after incriminating surveillance footage was released.

In May, she was booed by protesters chanting “Beetlejuice” when she visited the campus of George Washington University amid pro-Gaza protests.

The following month, during a Republican debate in June of that year, the moderator confronted her about the incident. Boebert said she had already been through the “apology tour” and “admitted to her evening in Denver.”

Despite numerous scandals, Boebert won the Republican primary in the new district in June.

It is not immediately clear whether the Colorado Republican accepted the invitation. The Independent has asked her campaign team for comment.
