Schedule and players to watch

The United South Panthers are excited to take to the field this Friday, August 30th as they take an away trip to Boerne-Champion.

Here is the Panthers’ official schedule for 2024.

The schedule is set, here are four players who will stand out for Black & Silver.

X-Factor: Misael Viera (LB)- United South knows how experienced Viera is. He has been a consistent starter for nearly three years and has been all over the field on defense. The coaching staff views Viera as a leader, not necessarily a vocal one, but one who leads by example. South expects a lot of hard hits from Viera this year.

Offensive MVP: David Gonzalez (RB)- Gonzalez is finally back where he belongs: at running back. Last season he had to play quarterback, but now everything is fine. Gonzalez has never been the type to complain; whatever is asked of him, he does it. South requires him to be the coach on the field and control the tempo of the offense.

Best Defensive Player: Angel Guerra (MLB)- Guerra has a football IQ that is through the roof. He never needs to be told what to do multiple times; he just knows how to do it. He played more of a defensive end position last year, but then moved back, and the staff really believes he is the heart of the defense.

New addition: Cedric Scott (OG)- On the field, Scott is impossible to miss. He is one of the biggest, tallest, and strongest offensive players in town. Staff members describe Scott as a “teddy bear” off the field, but on the field, he is extremely aggressive and mean. Scott is ready for massive pancake blocks and is truly a freight train. This is his first year on the varsity team, but his potential is still very high.
