Trump announces that he and Harris agree to debate rules

Date

(MENAFN) Former President Donald Trump has announced that he and Vice President Kamala Harris have agreed on the rules for their upcoming presidential debate, scheduled for September 10 in Philadelphia. That debate, moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis, has been the subject of controversy and debate in recent weeks.

According to Trump, the agreed-upon rules will mirror those of a previous CNN debate that he said worked well, with the exception, in his view, of President Joe Biden. The format requires candidates to participate standing up, and the use of notes or cheat sheets is prohibited. Trump stressed that ABC ensured a fair and equitable debate without allowing candidates access to their questions in advance, citing a previous controversy involving Donna Brazile, who was accused of asking Hillary Clinton questions about the debate during the 2016 election.

Trump’s post on his Truth Social platform also reiterated his long-standing criticism of the mainstream media, including CNN, which he accuses of favoring Democrats. Nevertheless, Trump praised CNN moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash for their objectivity in a June debate with President Biden that he described as disastrous for Biden. The debate, marked by Biden’s apparent weakness and confusion, ultimately led to Biden’s decision to end his re-election campaign shortly afterward.

The Trump-Harris debate is set to be an exciting event as both candidates prepare to address key issues and navigate a closely watched format. The outcome of this debate could have significant implications for the upcoming presidential election.
