The last two training sessions are crucial for Fofana’s possible start at Lazio

Paulo Fonseca is keen to give Youssouf Fofana his first start for AC Milan when the Rossoneri travel to Lazio this weekend, so the next two training sessions will be crucial.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), the new coach is keen to bring Fofana into the team as soon as possible, as he is convinced that the Frenchman can help reverse the poor start to the season.

Fofana came from AS Monaco, where he participated in the 2024 European Championship, and had an interrupted pre-season, so he is not yet fit enough to start.

Fonseca would like to use him this weekend against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, in a match that has already become a must-win for Milan, but Fitness remains a problem.

The last two training sessions before Milan’s trip to the capital will be crucial in determining whether Fofana has the strength to start in midfield or whether he will be restricted to another brief appearance on the bench.

It is believed that Fonseca would like to start games with Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders as the two midfielders behind the attacking quartet, but that has not been an option so far.
