Meet TigerQi Architecture, an entry in the Architects’ Directory 2024

TigerQi Architecture is a young studio based in the British Virgin Islands. Founded by Lavina Liburd, the boutique design firm strives to bring elegant contemporary architecture to the wider Caribbean context, including its recent ‘Beso del Sol Version 1: Rebuild’ and other residential designs. Now, TigerQi Architecture has been included in the Wallpaper Architects’ Directory 2024, our latest annual curated list highlighting exciting emerging studios from around the world.

Who: TigerQi Architecture

Liburd founded TigerQi Architecture in 2013 after previously working at various firms and gaining experience on a wide range of projects, from transportation and public contracts to luxury residences and commercial buildings. With this know-how under her belt, Liburd set out on her own, focusing on a contemporary design approach that embraces simplicity and minimalism.

Due to the climate and topography of its remote Caribbean home, the practice focuses on three key principles: creating healthy buildings that support the social health and well-being of its clients; encouraging hillside living to maximize views and light; and creating architecture that serves the community as a whole. These core principles are incorporated into the studio’s design process and embedded in a tropical modernist aesthetic.
