Suspect in Columbia Mall shooting identified, $10,000 offered for help in search

Howard County police have identified a person they believe is connected to the shooting death of a 17-year-old at the Mall of Columbia in late July, police said.

The alleged suspect, 17-year-old William Marshall III, is said to have shot Angelo Little before fleeing.

Officials said Little was shot in the back around 6:10 p.m. as he walked to the restroom at Columbia Mall; he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Marshall and Little likely knew each other, but police said no motive for the murder had been determined.

Under Maryland law, suspects under 18 are not typically identified, even when a child is charged as an adult. But officials said the search for Marshall represents an exception “solely for the purpose of assisting a child and ensuring public safety” when an arrest warrant is issued.

Marshall is reportedly a student at Oakland Mills High School, but has not attended school this year and has likely left the immediate area.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact Howard County Police at 410-313-STOP or email [email protected]. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
