Malmö murder investigation: Arrest in Sweden after Britons Juan Cifuentes and Farooq Abdulrazak found dead | World news

An arrest was made in Sweden after the remains of two Britons were found in a burnt-out car.

Juan Cifuentes, 33, and Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, were reported missing in July after he failed to return home from a business trip to Denmark and Sweden.

The couple’s car was found in Malmö. Swedish media reported that at least one of the victims was shot and then set on fire.

Swedish prosecutors confirmed earlier this month The remains found in the wreckage of the car were identified as those of the two Britons.

According to the Swedish public prosecutor’s office, investigations are ongoing in Sweden and Great Britain.

A statement said: “The Public Prosecutor has today arrested a person on reasonable suspicion of aiding and abetting the murder of two British citizens who were found dead in a burnt-out car in Malmö on 14 July this year.”

“There will now be questioning, both with the suspect and with other people.”

Magnus Pettersson, head of the preliminary investigation, said the public prosecutor has until Sunday, September 1, to decide whether or not to keep the suspect in custody.
