‘Fathead’ Khabib Nurmagomedov under fire from Tony Ferguson as tirade with X-Rated rant reignites UFC rivalry

Back in 2021, Khabib Nurmagomedov appeared in an interview on the “Inspire Me Podcast”. In it, the former undefeated UFC lightweight champion spoke about never getting the chance to fight Tony FergusonNeedless to say, the Dagestani fighter was quite upset about this. But when the video resurfaced after 3 years, the entire mixed martial arts world was thrilled. It was indeed high time for Ferguson to send a response to the former mixed martial artist.

And you know what? He did! “El Cucuy” threw a few punches in an X-rated tirade on social media. No doubt the Mexican-American fighter was provoked by Nurmagomedov’s opinion.

Tony Ferguson strikes back against Khabib Nurmagomedov

“The Eagle” and “El Cucuy” were supposed to face each other a few times in the past. However, the fights never took place. The duo even had two fights scheduled at UFC on Fox 19 and UFC 209. But the fights were canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Nurmagomedov felt nothing but a touch of sadness on that occasion. But when he spoke about the duel, he was quite confident that Ferguson would have a hard time winning. And the only way to do that was with a punch, if he was lucky.

Nurmagomedov said: “I’m a little sad, but at the same time I always understand that my game is worse for him, you know. He has no wrestling, no grappling. What is he supposed to do with me? How is he supposed to stop me, you know? I only have one chance how he can stop me, it was like just one punch.”

When the interview resurfaced and made the rounds on the Internet, Ferguson had no choice but to hit back. He turned to X and sent a heated message to the Dagestani. Ferguson wrote“Lucky Punch wanted to leave you alone now but ewe just couldn’t help it, you phat phunk what a fucking pus ee cowardly chicken keep hiding Khabieber 29-1 #ItsOnLikeDonkeyKongBiotch until further notice tell ol’ fathead what time it is crew.”

It seemed like the duo had put the past behind them and moved on. But given the heat coming from their rivalry, the MMA world can expect Ferguson and Nurmagomedov to finally settle scores. But despite their rivalry, there was a time when “The Eagle” came to Ferguson’s aid.

When the UFC scheduled a fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson for the fifth and final time, the media asked the Dagestani to comment on Ferguson’s problems. But Nurmagomedov behaved like a true champion and refused to do so. He called on the world to let Ferguson deal with his problems. He defended his planned opponent, saying:“That’s his problem, you know. Leave him alone, you know.”

But the undefeated fighter was ready to help Ferguson if he needed it. Nurmagomedov continued“If he needs help, we have to help him. But we will fight next month. I don’t want to think about him. He is my opponent. [and] talk about his mental problem, I don’t think it [a good thing]”,

And now the rivalry has been reignited. Although Nurmagomedov refused to step back into the Octagon several times, the fight community was waiting with bated breath for a fight between him and Ferguson to finally happen.
