Police release video of hit-and-run that seriously injures pedestrian in South LA

Police have released surveillance footage of a hit-and-run accident in May in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. on May 15 when a 41-year-old man was crossing the intersection of 65th Place and Western Avenue in the Harvard Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

As soon as he stepped onto the street, he was hit by the driver of a black sedan. Instead of stopping, the driver drove on, leaving the pedestrian lying on the street.

Investigators say the driver’s side mirror recovered at the scene may fit a 2016-2022 Chevrolet Malibu.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been determined, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. His current condition is unknown.

As with all hit-and-run accidents in the City of Los Angeles, a reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a suspect.
