Simone Biles meets Caitlin Clark after WNBA star breaks another record

Caitlin Clark is making history and the entire sporting world is cheering her on – including Simone Biles.

The 27-year-old Olympic gymnast was present live at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday, August 28, when the Indiana Fever won 84-80 over the Connecticut Sun.

While the 22-year-old Clark showed a strong performance, scored 19 points, five rebounds and five assistsa three-pointer at the beginning of the game, their 86th of the season. This broke the the WNBA rookie 3-point record previously held by Rhyne Howard.

After the match, Clark and her teammates met Biles and 27-year-old Olympic track and field star Gabby Thomas, who greeted them with hugs and smiles.

“The team was excited to meet Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after our win at @GainbridgeFH. The reactions πŸ˜‚ πŸ™Œ,” the WNBA team captioned a video shared on its social media accounts.

After the nice meeting, Biles said to the camera: “They were so excited. Oh my God. Usually the boy just walks by and says ‘yup’. But they were so excited, that was so cool.”

She further commented on the encounter by sharing the video on X and wrote, “EVERYONE IS WATCHING WOMEN’S SPORTS 🫢🏽 I’m so glad I can be there and support them! My first of many WNBA games 🀞🏽.”

Thomas also commented on X and wrote: “First WNBA game of many! It was so much fun cheering on these stars πŸ™ŒπŸΎ.”

Other stars in attendance at the game included Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson and David Letterman, via The Indianapolis Star.

When she spoke last month about not making the U.S. women’s national basketball team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, she told reporters that she continues to have a strong work ethic.

“It makes me think that this is your time in college. And I feel like I was just a freshman in college. So it shows you that if you want this to be your dream in four years, you have to start working now,” she said. “I think that’s it for me, you know, work hard and hopefully you can make it happen.”
