DAYTON– The University of Dayton football team opens its 116th college football season at home against Saint Francis on Saturday, kicking off at 12 p.m. ET.

• Dayton was 4-7 in Coach Trevor Andrews‘s first season as UD’s head coach and finished the year with a 35-6 home win over Marist and a 45-14 win at Davidson.

• UD returns 17 starters (nine on offense, eight on defense).

• The Flyers are led by two captains – Center Dylan DeMaison and security Ca’ron Coleman. DeMaison and linebackers Aiden McKinley were named Preseason All-PFL.

• Coleman was UD’s 2023 White Allen MVP. He earned honorable mention All-PFL after finishing third on the team in tackles (77), solos (34) and TFL (8). DeMaison has started all 30 games of his Dayton career and was twice named First Team All-PFL. McKinley is the Flyers’ leading returning tackler with 87 hits last year. He was second in the PFL in TFL (12.5). His three forced fumbles and two recovered fumbles were also the most on the team.

• Saint Francis had a 4-6 overall record last season and a 4-3 record in the Northeast Conference.

• SFU was voted second in the NEC in the league’s preseason poll this year. Offensive lineman Mason Imbt, defensive lineman Eddie Bierals and linebacker Mercury Swaim were named Preseason All-NEC in the same poll.

• The two teams will also open the season in men’s basketball at the UD Arena on November 4.

• Dayton’s next game is Saturday, Sept. 14, at Indiana State, with kickoff at 6 p.m. ET.
