Sun Devil women’s tennis has three players in the ITA preseason rankings

TEMPE On Tuesday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the preseason rankings for singles, doubles and newcomers ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Sun Devil Women’s Tennis, Sophomore Emilija Tverijonaite And Sara Svetac both represent the colors maroon and gold and crack the top 125. Tverijonaite is in 52nd place and Svetac in 124th place. In the double ranking, Svetac and Senior Patricia Spaka Check in at number 41 on the list.

Tverijonaite had a successful freshman season, going 15-3 in singles-doubles matches and 12-5 in doubles play last season. She finished 68th in the ITA singles rankings last season and received honorable mention All-Conference honors. Svetac went 5-8 in singles matches and 11-7 in doubles play in her freshman season.

Spaka earned honorable mention All-Conference honors last season and has competed in the NCAA Tournament since becoming a Sun Devil, compiling a 29-22 career doubles record, including a round of 16 appearance at the 2023 NCAA Doubles Championships.

The Sun Devils are one of five Big 12 schools to have three or more athletes in the ITA preseason rankings. The Sun Devils’ first tournament will be Sept. 19-22 at the UTSA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego, while the NCAA fall singles and doubles championships will be Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
