Murder investigation underway, man may have barricaded himself in southern Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – A homicide investigation is ongoing and a man may have barricaded himself inside a south Sacramento County home Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.

Officials said a woman died on Alta Mesa Road between Valensin Road and Arno Road, south of Wilton and northeast of Galt, possibly from blunt force trauma.

According to officials, authorities arrived at the scene around 2:40 p.m. The victim’s body could be seen outside the house in a driveway.

Investigators believe the victim’s son barricaded himself in a building on the property, but do not consider him a suspect at this time.
