New flight schedule for Meridian Regional Airport thanks to SkyWest

New flight schedule for Meridian Regional Airport thanks to SkyWest

MERIDIAN, Mississippi (WTOK) – Earlier this week, Meridian Regional Airport announced it was adjusting its flight times.

Effective September 1, Meridian Regional Airport will no longer have shared flights with Hattiesburg; the 6:25 p.m. flight will depart at 2:05 p.m. instead.

SkyWest Airlines offers flights to Meridian Regional Airport.

SkyWest has had a pilot shortage for the past five years.

With the pilot shortage now easing, SkyWest Meridian can offer a better flight schedule.

It is expected that this new schedule will bring great benefits to the local community.

“I think this will give us more opportunities to use our local airline, United Airlines, at Meridian Regional Airport. It will bring more opportunities for local passengers. Instead of driving somewhere, they can use Meridian and see our great customer service. They can see we have $2.00 a day parking instead of paying a fortune somewhere else. And when they get home, they’re home. They don’t have to drive two or two and a half hours to get home,” said Tom Williams, the president of the Meridian Airport Authority.

Mr Williams also said SkyWest believes in Meridian’s offer.
