Robbie Williams is one of the highest-selling British artists of all time.

The life story of the singer from Stoke will be brought to the screen in a big-budget biopic entitled Better man.

Robbie Williams and Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey, who directed the box office hit The greatest showmanare responsible for the project and the cast and crew were spotted filming iconic scenes from the star’s life on the streets of London.

Robbie fans got the chance to be in the film in November 2022 when Robbie filmed two shows for the movie at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

With the news that the film is in full swing, we bring you everything you need to know about the former Take That star’s movie’s plot, cast, soundtrack, release date and more.

1. What do we know so far about “Better Man” by Robbie Williams?

   

   The film is billed as a “musical fantasy” and will be shot at Docklands Studios in Melbourne in 2022 and in the UK in 2023.

   Back in December 2021, director Michael Gracey officially announced that the Robbie Williams film would be shot.

   “Telling Robbie Williams’ beautiful, unique story at home, in my own city, is a dream come true,” he enthused.

   “There is a creative energy burning throughout the Melbourne film industry and I know this film will succeed here.”

   Simon Gleeson, Oliver Cole and Gracey co-wrote the film’s screenplay and the Better manThe producers are Paul Currie, Gracey, Coco Xiaolu Ma, Jules Daly and Craig McMahon.

   In typical Robbie Williams fashion, the singer didn’t mince his words when it came to revealing the highs and lows of filming the movie.

   Robbie said of the biopic: “The thing about films is that it’s a miracle that anything gets made at all.”

   “Everything gets into a bottleneck. It’s always, ‘This person says no and this person says yes and this person is offended and this person is not offended enough.’ It’s agents and lawyers.”

2. Who will star in Robbie Williams’ “Better Man”?

   

   Robbie Williams will star as himself in the new film about his life.

   The Stoke legend takes on the lead role and 29-year-old British actor Jonno Davies, who was spotted dancing in London’s Regent Street dressed as the star, plays the younger version of Robbie.

   Actor Jake Simmance plays Robbie’s Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, alongside him Liam Head plays Howard Donald, Jesse Hyde plays Mark Owen and Chase Vollenweider plays Jason Orange.

   Steve Pemberton plays his father Peter, while Alison Steadman plays his mother Betty.

   Insiders are keeping quiet about what will be heard on the soundtrack to the Robbie Williams film.

   With huge hits like “Angels,” “She’s The One,” “Supreme,” “Feel,” “Rock DJ,” and many more, producers may find it difficult to narrow down the selection to just a few.

   In conversation with Deadline In 2021, Gracey confirmed that the songs would be adapted for the film.

   “All of Robbie’s songs are sung again to capture the emotion of the moment,” he said.

   “When he is deep in despair, he will not sing a song as an extravagant cabaret show; it will be broken, a cappella, stripped down, because that is his emotional state. In moments of pure joy, songs are sung in this whirlwind of hysteria.

   “So basically Robbie will sing every song in the film, but it will be performed to express the emotions of that moment and that scene.”

4. When will Better Man be released?

   

   There is finally a release date for Robbie Williams’ film biography Better man!

   Fans can watch the film on 26 December in Great Britain and Ireland, according to film fan Tom Linay (via Twitter/X).

   Production on the musical began in May 2022, but we haven’t seen a trailer or even a teaser clip yet.
