Company prepares for its first Aggie game day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Area sports bars are gearing up for this year’s football season. They’re getting ready for the influx of fans we see every year.

The Varsity Grillhouse on Earl Rudder South Freeway opened in College Station in May. Today is the first day of play.

The restaurant’s general manager, Robby Smith, who has been in the business for ten years, says they are expecting a very busy weekend.

“We’re prepared. We’ve been prepared all week. We’re just excited for people to come out and have fun, whether they’re Notre Dame fans, A&M fans or just football fans in general,” Smith said.

The restaurant manager says the staff is well prepared for the rush of visitors.

They plan to host watch parties at home and away games.

“I love those days when you’re just busy and running around and then you look out and see everyone smiling and the Aggies winning and cheering. It’s just a great experience, so we’re ready for it. I think it’s going to be a blast,” Smith said.

For future game days, the restaurant will offer a new menu specifically for Aggies students.
