Lawrence-Tafel ceases operations due to fire

LAWRENCE, Kansas (KCTV) – A food bank is ceasing operations after a fire in downtown Lawrence.

Just Food, a local nonprofit in Lawrence, Kansas, announced Tuesday that it would cease production following a recent fire.

“Due to an unfortunate fire at the Chop Shop, we have had to temporarily halt our downtown production,” Just Food said in a post on Facebook. “Our team and volunteers are safe, but this incident will impact our ability to serve the community in the coming days.”

Just Food is located at 1000 E. 11th Street in Lawrence.

“We appreciate your support and will keep you updated on our progress as we work to resume operations as quickly as possible,” the food bank continued. “Thank you to the first responders who arrived quickly and kept everyone safe. Stay tuned for more information.”
