Rey Mysterio announces surprising cosplay for future WWE match

Rey Mysterio hints at taking on a new role in a future WWE match.

It’s no surprise that Rey Mysterio pays homage to pop culture figures with his masks and wrestling gear, as he has designed gear modeled after characters like The Flash, The Phantom, and The Joker in the past.

Speaking to Sam Roberts during Fanatics Fest in New York City, Mysterio hinted that he was working on a new look to portray his villainous son, Dominik Mysterio.

“I love cosplaying a lot. I’m actually going to do a Dominik Mysterio cosplay soon. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.” (h/t Fightful)

Rey Mysterio recently noted what condition he would like to fulfill if he inevitably meets Dominik Mysterio again in the future.

Rey Mysterio almost left the WWE in 2019

In a March edition of After The Bell, Rey Mysterio discussed his plans to retire from the ring in 2019 following his feud with Samoa Joe. He revealed that his son Dominik Mysterio had convinced him to pursue his in-ring career long before the confrontation, before the two worked together on screen.

“I mean, at some point when I first came back [to WWE]I was actually feuding with Samoa Joe and I remember at the time I really wanted to hang up the mask and retire. As weird as it sounds, Dominik convinced me not to and told me to stay. I just felt like I was falling behind with all this young talent paving the way for me…but I stayed and committed to doing the work that was needed and it’s been incredible ever since.

“Yeah, I really had doubts and thought, ‘Maybe it’s time to step back and let the new generation do their thing.’ But I think shortly after that I got some stem cells and when I came back I was ready to go.” (h/t Fightful)
