Vandalism at Atlanta LGBT venue under investigation

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – An incident of vandalism at an Atlanta LGBT event venue is under investigation.

The vandalism occurred at the site of the upcoming Global Black Pride event at 188 14th Street NE, according to Atlanta police.

Police believe that a “drunk hotel guest” caused the damage on Tuesday evening.

A video sent to Atlanta News First shows tables overturned and memorabilia from the event scattered on the floor. Another video shows a gay pride flag covered in feces.

“We at Atlanta Black Pride Weekend are deeply saddened by the recent incident at Global Black Pride’s Global Village. We take this matter very seriously and support Global Black Pride as they work with local authorities to resolve the situation quickly and thoroughly. We want to extend our love and unwavering support to the Global Black Pride team we are privileged to partner with on this year’s Atlanta Black Pride Weekend. Together, we will continue to strengthen our community and ensure that all of our events provide a safe and welcoming environment for all,” a spokesperson said.

The event began in Atlanta on Tuesday and is scheduled to last until Monday, September 2nd
