Aljamain Sterling says UFC used “the Jake Paul way” to make Sean O’Malley world champion

Aljamain Sterling says UFC used “the Jake Paul way” to make Sean O’Malley world champion

Aljamain Sterling claims the UFC helped Sean O’Malley become a champion, even going so far as to say he followed the “Jake Paul path.”

While “Suga” decimated his opponents in the cage, “The Funk Master” is convinced that he only did so because the matchups were favorable.

Aljamain Sterling compares Sean O’Malley to Jake Paul

On September 14, Sean O’Malley will defend his world title against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306, in a fight that has captured the public’s imagination.

Unfortunately, Aljamain Sterling will not be watching with popcorn as he believes his rival has had a tremendous amount of help to get to the position he is in today.

The Jamaican-born boxer claims O’Malley’s career is similar to that of Jake Paul. The 135-pound king has put on many memorable performances, similar to the YouTube phenomenon, according to Sterling, but he only did so because the cards were stacked in his favor.

In an episode of “Verse Us” with Eric Nicksack, he stated that he felt unfairly treated because he was given much less recovery time after his victory over Henry Cejudo than he would have needed to be able to fight someone like O’Malley.

He said: “I want to see the best of the best in the competitionno excuses. Now comes O’Malley; he’s fighting a high-ranking opponent and getting a title shot, albeit by split decision. That’s not hate on my part, I’m just calling a spade a spade.

“He was supposed to fight me next, which would give me enough time to prepare. But instead [UFC] say, “Oh, Henry Cejudo is coming back, we want you to fight him.”

“In the back of their minds, they’re thinking, ‘Whoever wins, we’re going to get him ready for August.’ So he knows all about it. Only O’Malley can disclose that. Or at least the UFC knew for sure that’s what they wanted to do: give him the best possible chance to become world champion by hampering his opponent and stacking the deck against him.

“That’s Jake Paul’s route. You manipulate the cards to get those favorable matchups and wins.”

Will Merab Dvalishvili be hindered in his fight against Sean O’Malley?

Sterling eventually lost his belt to O’Malley and now experts fear that Dvalishvili will not be able to defeat the American due to a cut above his eye.

Curiously, he posted the incident on Instagram, whereupon Dana White called him “completely stupid.”

Although many believe that the Georgian will be at a disadvantage from the start, the fighter himself does not seem to be worried about it.

He uploaded another video of himself removing the stitches, which drew a hilarious reaction from the UFC president.
