DWCS 69 winner Malcolm Wellmaker waits by phone for his UFC debut

LAS VEGAS – Malcolm Wellmaker can’t wait for another opportunity to perform.

Wellmaker (8-0) impressed at Dana White’s Contender Series 69, slamming Adam Bramhald face down and knocking him out in the first round at UFC Apex on Tuesday.

UFC general manager Dana White said Wellmaker couldn’t have looked better when he signed him to a UFC contract. The undefeated 30-year-old seemingly emerged unscathed and is now looking to build on his success.

“As soon as a good opportunity comes along,” Wellmaker told reporters, including MMA Junkie. “I’ll be waiting on the phone. My trainers will listen to the offers. Me, my trainers and Jason House will sit down and go back in and try to get another knockout.”

Wellmaker brought Bramhald down with a fierce counter to the right as he backed away, a result he says he had envisioned exactly.

“I just have to give a lot of credit to my team,” W’ellmaker said. “The last three or four fights, we had a game plan and a vision of exactly how we were going to finish the fights and the same thing happened tonight.”

“He works the jab, has a wide open left hook in the jump and comes up with the right hand. I did a few interviews before the fight and even told them it was going to be a right hand. I saw it and I did it.”
