ESPN launches new “Where to Watch” feature online and in app

ESPN will launch a “Where to Watch” feature on its app and online starting Wednesday.

This feature allows fans to search for specific events to find out where the games are being played, whether on ESPN’s platforms or on broadcast, cable and regional sports networks and streaming services. “Where to Watch” is available on every screen of the ESPN app and on ESPN.com.

“The ease of discovery and ability to watch sporting events has become increasingly important to fans as sports television has become fragmented across networks and platforms,” said Brian Marshall, Vice President, Sports Product & Technology, Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology. “ESPN has always been the first stop for sports fans and as we continue our evolution into the leading digital sports platform, we are proud to meet fans’ needs with new features that improve the discoverability of live sports and simplify their consumption experience.”

The Where to Watch feature also allows users to view all of the day’s sporting events and specify the network or service they can be found on. It also provides authenticated pay-TV users and ESPN+ subscribers with one-click access to ESPN network streams, as well as links to certain partner networks.

The feature is powered by an event database created and maintained by ESPN Stats and Information Group. At launch, included coverage will include tens of thousands of events across dozens of sports and leagues, including NFL, NCAA football, men’s and women’s NCAA basketball, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, UFC, F1, NASCAR, PGA TOUR, tennis majors, MLS, Premier League, Champions League and other live sporting events broadcast on ESPN platforms.
