Roswell police say three people arrested in ongoing human trafficking investigation

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Roswell police say three more people have been arrested as law enforcement continues to investigate human trafficking cases in the metro Atlanta area.

On August 22, police raided several properties and arrested 39-year-old Jeannot Joseph of Roswell, 48-year-old Qin Zhen of Sandy Springs and 72-year-old Jinpei Li of Norcross. The suspects are accused of racketeering, sex trafficking and human trafficking, police said.

“There is no more important agreement between a city and its residents than the agreement to ensure public safety and protect those who cannot defend themselves,” Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson said in a statement. “This operation is another important step in the City of Roswell’s ongoing fight to eradicate human trafficking and illegal activity in our community.”

In March, Roswell Police Detectives began investigating prostitution offers advertised through “various Internet channels.” Officers said they discovered a criminal enterprise operating out of residences in Roswell and the metropolitan Atlanta area, allegedly offering illegal massage or prostitution services.

Last week, Roswell police — along with officers from DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, Sandy Springs, the Department of Homeland Security and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation — executed search warrants at seven locations in north Atlanta. The sites included several apartment complexes, a home, a warehouse and an extended-stay motel. The three suspects were arrested during the operation.

Police said they had also identified a victim and found “significant evidence” of other cases of human trafficking.

“Our success in this operation is a testament to the dedication and skill of our officers and the invaluable support of our partner agencies,” Roswell Police Chief James Conroy said in a statement. “This is more than just a victory for law enforcement; it is a significant step forward in our ongoing fight to protect the vulnerable and bring those who exploit them to justice. Human trafficking is occurring in our communities and we are committed to putting an end to it.”

This is not the first time Roswell police have arrested people accused of human trafficking. In September 2023, officers arrested three more people for allegedly running a human trafficking and prostitution ring out of several massage parlors. More than 50 victims were rescued, police said.
