Lawton Mayor Stan Booker takes home election results, CIP extension approved

LAWTON, Oklahoma (KSWO) – Lawton Mayor Stan Booker will remain in office for the next three years after election results are announced.

“Of course, there is always nervousness in elections like this,” said Booker. “We had a pretty good feeling going into the election. The results are very satisfactory. The people are very humble in sending me back for a third term. A third and final term, because our term is limited to nine years.”

Mayor Booker stated that he was grateful not only for his own results, but also for the citizens voting to extend CIP 2040.

“Because Propel 2040 is going to bring Lawton into being. It’s aggressive,” said Mayor Booker. “We have an aggressive city council.”

Booker said the first thing he plans to do after his re-election is to push for the implementation of Propel 2040 as quickly as possible.

“When citizens decide something, they want to do something as quickly as possible, and that’s what we’re trying to do. Both the political side and the staff will be aggressive in making sure Propel 2040 is implemented to get Lawton started,” Booker said.
