SNA Displays and AJP provide video display upgrades throughout the Blue Jays’ Rogers Centre

The Toronto Blue Jays have revamped the video experience at Rogers Centre, recently installing over two dozen LED displays throughout the stadium. SNA Displays supplied the LED video technology, including EMPIRE exterior displays inside the stadium and BRILLIANT interior dvLEDs in several concourse and club areas. Rogers Centre, originally known as the SkyDome, has been the home of the Blue Jays since 1989 and has undergone extensive renovations in recent years.

Digital signage highlights include a 36-foot-long backstop display behind home plate and hoardings along the top of both dugouts, modernizing the on-field visuals and providing additional sponsorship opportunities for the MLB club and its partners. Other display assets added include more than a dozen locker room displays, large-format videos in VIP club and bar areas, and additional field-level signage.

Owner representative Anthony James Partners (AJP) designed the new systems and worked with the Blue Jays to select SNA Displays for the video enhancements. SNA Displays also implemented automatic power control for all new display equipment and fully integrated LynTec’s lighting control panel system into its V3Pro suite to provide a single point of control. Trade Sync Corporation provided installation services.

“AJP is a long-standing and proud partner of Rogers Communications and the Toronto Blue Jays,” says Michael Rowe, CEO of AJP. “After a highly competitive procurement process, SNA Displays stood out from the crowd with exceptional LED products and a seamless installation and integration process. We appreciated SNA’s professionalism and the effectiveness of their project management team.”

Field level

Videotapes have been installed in the home and visiting dugouts. The EMPIRE Exterior displays have a pixel pitch of 3.9 mm, are 10 inches high and over 68 feet long (64 x 5,312 pixels), and run the entire length of each dugout.

The Rogers Centre home plate backstop now features a 3.9mm video screen built in three sections to match the contours of the wall, measuring 2 feet 6 inches high by 36 feet long. Other field-level signage includes a club display in the right field corner, a 10mm screen measuring 6 feet 4 inches high by 21 feet long (192 x 640 pixels).

Clubhouse and VIP lounges

The new LED displays in the hall consist of several 1.5 mm BRILLIANT Interior LED video systems in the clubhouse and the Blue Jays VIP lounges.

The Blue Jays clubhouse now welcomes guests with an 8-foot-high, 21-foot-wide (1,584 x 4,096 pixels) dvLED.

The Blueprint Club features a 10’4″ x 11’9″ main display (2,016 x 2,304 pixels). The entrance to the upscale VIP area features a new 7′ x 3′ (1,440 x 640 pixels) video board.

One of the venue’s premium bars, the Rogers Banner Club, now features multiple video displays as well as a two-way halo. The Banners Club’s 1.5mm main display handles 10.8 million pixels at a resolution of 2,016 x 5,376 pixels and measures 10’4″ x 27’6″. It is flanked by two 10mm video columns that are approximately 1’6″ wide and 15′ tall. The double-sided Rogers Banner Club Halo display is 17′ long on its long side and has an extremely tight 1.5mm pixel pitch.

Changing room

SNA Displays supplied 14 BRILLIANT Interior 1.5mm screens for three dressing rooms in the stadium. Ten of the displays are mounted above the players’ dressing rooms. All are 70cm high and between 2.3m and 5.2m long.

All improvements to the in-bowl and locker room areas were made before the start of the 2024 MLB season, while some interior areas were recently upgraded.

Prior to the 2023 season, SNA Displays added a 124-foot LED strip to the 200th level of the stadium. For a complete asset overview and more information, see SNA Displays’ Rogers Centre case study.
