Black Girls Rock! Awards announce new taping date

The Black Girls Rock! Awards, returning after a five-year hiatus, have announced a new taping date for the ceremony in 2024.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Oscar-nominated actress Danielle Brooks, will now be taped live from the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Friday, November 1, and broadcast at a later date on Lifetime. The taping was originally scheduled for June 27.

This year’s recording “coincides with a convergence of history and progress and comes during an election season of historic significance. As the nation is about to elect possibly its first female president, [Kamala Harris]“Black women are not just participants in this pivotal moment – ​​they are on the front lines,” the press release said.

Award recipients announced earlier this year include Tracee Ellis Ross, who received the Star Power Award; Gina Prince-Bythewood, who was honored with the Shot Caller Award; Fantasia, who was awarded the Black Girl Magic Award; Aurora James, who was awarded the Boss Up Award; Stephanie Mills, who was awarded the Living Legend Award; Maya Penn, who was awarded the Young, Gifted and Black Award; and Latham Thomas, who was awarded the Community Change Agent Award.

The Black Girls Rock! Awards aired on BET from 2010 to 2019 before moving to Lifetime this year.
