WFPK Song of the Day: “Crystal Breath” by Kim Deal

Kim Deal of The Breeders has announced her long-awaited solo debut album. Nobody loves you morewhich released the first single “Crystal Breath.“ The new track is filled with pulsating beats and doesn’t skimp on distortion. “It’s about self-hatred and compulsive behavior,” Deal shared, “but set to a dance beat.”

The album was written and produced by Deal himself along with the late Steve Albini, and features contributions from several former and current members of The Breeders, as well as Raymond McGinley of Teenage Fanclub and Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs.

The new project with 11 tracks will be released on November 22nd on 4Nightly and contains the previously released single “Coast”.

Although this is her debut album, it is not her first solo album: in 2013 she self-released a five-part 7-inch vinyl series with ten songs.
