Nikita Tszyu vs. Koen Mazoudier – Live updates, results and highlights from the 2024 boxing match

Can Nikita Tszyu (9-0) continue his undefeated start to his professional career and claim his biggest scalp yet, or will Koen Mazoudier (12-3-1) etch his name in the world rankings with a victory over the “dark prince” of the Australian boxing royal family?

The two Sydneysiders will face off on home soil at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Darling Harbour on Wednesday 28 August in what promises to be a fireworks-filled clash.

Also in action is Michael Zerafa (31-5), who hopes to get back on track when he faces Tommy Browne (45-8-2) in the main support, with victory setting up a possible date with Nikita Tszyu.

A high-class light heavyweight fight between Conor Wallace (13-1) and Jerome Pampellone (18-1) is the highlight of the preliminary fights, which will develop into an exciting fight evening.

Below we bring you all the action live from Sydney:

Nikita Tszyu vs Koen Mazoudier – Live updates, results and highlights

Michael Zerafa’s brother punches Tommy Browne’s cornerman in crazy post-fight scenes

Chaos broke out after the bizarre end of Michael Zerafa’s fight with Tommy Browne.

The fight was stopped when Browne failed to respond to the bell for the second round, as he had sustained a suspected bicep injury in the first three minutes.

An angry Zerafa then accused Browne of giving up – the same derision that had already been directed at him in connection with his loss to Erislandy Lara at the World Championship in March.

Tempers flared between Zerafa and Browne’s trainer Tommy Mercuri before Zerafa’s brother entered the ring and threw a wild right hook at the experienced trainer.

Check out the incident below:

As tensions subsided, Zerafa confirmed his desire to face Nikita Tszyu: “Nikita, I’m coming.”

Conor Wallace asserts regional dominance in the light heavyweight division

Left-hander Conor Wallace earned a spirited split decision victory over hard-hitting Jerome Pampellone to move into contention for the light heavyweight world title.

Wallace had to weather a storm from Pampellone at the start, but boxed cleverly, mixing long-range combinations with some sharp movements to earn the nod from two judges’ cards.

Wallace, who now has a record of 14-1, is hoping to face the winner of the undisputed light heavyweight world championship fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol in October.

Police remove fans of Conor Wallace after thrown cup

In the middle of the fight between Conor Wallace and Jerome Pampellone, dramatic scenes occurred outside the ring when a cup was thrown towards the ring.

Wallace’s vociferous support team had an exchange of words with Pampellone’s corner after the Northern Irishman’s mouthguard was revealed for the second time.

As the bell rang to end the fifth round, a full plastic cup hit Pampellone’s corner post, causing hectic scenes as security guards tried to identify the culprit.

Shortly afterwards, four members of Pampellone’s team were removed from the venue with the assistance of the police.

Dharringarra Trewhella remains undefeated

Supported by a strong cohort of members of the Western Sydney Wanderers Red and Black Block, Dharringarra Trewhella maintained his undefeated record with a well-compiled unanimous points victory (58-56 x3) over the previously undefeated Calvin Jensen.

Trewhella started well and seemed to have the edge with his clever movement and variety of attacks, but Jensen worked his way into the fight before “D-Boy” stepped up a gear in the final round and sealed the win.

Billy Polkinghorn wins convincingly at UD

Billy Polkinghorn improved his professional record to 3-0 with a comfortable win over a durable and playful Michael Reynolds.

The Englishman, who now lives in Queensland, picked his punches and kept the pressure on Reynolds, but his New Zealand opponent held up well against the offensive, made it through the five rounds and claimed a unanimous points victory (50-45 x2, 49-46).

Sonny Knight defeats the contender for the fight of the night

In front of a predominantly Sonny Knight-friendly crowd, the Newcastle fighter improved his record to 3-0 after an old-fashioned exchange of blows with Laban Stringer.

Both men had moments of success in the four incredibly action-packed rounds.

One judge managed to score all four rounds for Knight, which was simply insane, while the other two had 39-37 cards in both cases.

Jazzy Parr continues with dominant victory

Gold Coast’s Jasmine Parr quietly increased her lead to 6-0 against Pannaporn Kaewpawong.

Parr, the daughter of Australian martial arts legend John Wayne Parr, battered her Thai opponent but was unable to finish the fight en route to a one-sided unanimous decision victory.

Mounir Fathi forces early termination

Moroccan super welterweight Mounir Fathi recorded an early stoppage for the second consecutive fight, knocking out Suitama Manuele in the second round.

Manuele was a tough but clearly inferior opponent for Fathi, who came within 8-1 after the corner threw in the towel following an attack from the Billy Dib-managed fighter.

After the fight and a winning somersault, Fathi challenged Queensland-based batsman Ben Hussain to a thrilling battle.

Mai Soliman surpasses Connie Brown with points

Sydney’s Mai Soliman improved her record to 6-1 with a split decision win over Connie Brown.

Soliman was the more active fighter and landed the cleaner punches to secure the hard-fought victory.

Max McIntyre remains undefeated with KO victory

Rising teenage super middleweight Max McIntyre improved his record to 5-0 with a dominant third-round stoppage of LB Mathew to open the non-televised portion of the card.

Mathew was down once in the first round and twice in the third. The second round was enough for referee Will Soulos to stop the fight.

The tall McIntyre’s right hand did the damage and repeatedly forced his opponent into submission.
