Construction work impacts the first day of school at East Longmeadow High School

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – School begins again Wednesday in several cities and towns.

This includes East Longmeadow, where construction is currently underway on the high school.

Construction work on the building began in the summer. Among other things, a fence was erected to separate the school from the construction sites.

As for the impact of this work on the start of school on Wednesday, students and parents will continue to access the high school via the bus turnaround loop in front of the school and the existing parking lot.

Access to the construction site will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. so that the entrance to Maple Street is reserved for school traffic during student drop-off times.

Also note that there will be no access via the Norden Street area.

High school officials have addressed any concerns and said they do not expect the construction to have a major impact on school life.
