Trump and Harris face a high-profile showdown with a live debate on ABC on September 10

Former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump has announced that he has agreed to a lively debate with his opponent, Democratic candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris, on September 10.

The debate will be broadcast live on ABC from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Trump referred to Harris as “Comrade Kamala Harris” in his statement on Truth Social and said the debate would follow the same rules as a recent CNN debate, including a standing format and a ban on note-taking.

Trump’s agreement came after negotiations over debate protocols, which include muting the microphone when candidates are not speaking.

Although Trump has expressed distrust of ABC News and previously called the program “fake news,” he confirmed his participation in the upcoming debate, despite previous statements suggesting he might not attend.
