adidas unveils official match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League™ and UEFA Women’s Champions League™

adidas today unveils the official match balls for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions LeagueTM and the UEFA Women’s Champions LeagueTM. Both balls return to a more classic look but feature updated technology and will once again feature solid stars, instead of the staggered pattern seen on the official UCL and UWCL match balls since 2019.

The look of the new UCL ball is all about iconic simplicity, with the famous stars that represent the tournament displayed in black on white hexagons. The classic design is accentuated by subtle details in turbo red and solar yellow, giving the ball a modern touch as a new generation of ballplayers compete for Europe’s biggest club prize.

The new official UWCL match ball features the same arrangement of stars and hexagons as the men’s ball, but with a unique graphic update. Three bands run across the surface in vibrant turbo red and aurora black, representing the shape of the arms of the coveted trophy – the first time it has been featured on the UEFA Women’s Champions League ball.TMThe adidas logo shines in bright yellow and completes the new, eye-catching look.

In addition to the new graphic design, the ball features a range of adidas performance technologies that provide improved precision and spin. The innovative PRISMA surface has been updated for 2024/25 with a brand new embossed pattern that has been rigorously tested in wind tunnels and on the pitch.

The outer texture coating – uniform on all adidas UEFA Champions LeagueTM Official Match Balls – provide secure grip and complete control, while the thermally bonded seamless construction is designed for ultimate performance. A groundbreaking CTR-CORE in the ball is tuned for accuracy and consistency, supporting fast, precise play with maximum shape and air retention. The core is made up of two components: a zero-waste bladder made from renewable natural rubber and the carcass made from a double-patched PES fabric that gives the bladder its strength and shape.

The new official match balls are not only made from recycled polyester and water-based ink, but also contain more bio-based substances than any previous UEFA Champions League ball.TM Official match ball. Each layer of the ball has been customized to incorporate materials such as corn fiber, sugar cane, wood pulp and rubber without compromising performance.

Nick Craggs, Global Football General Manager at adidas, said: “European club football’s biggest stage deserves the best performance technology to support players on the pitch and excite fans around the world. That’s why we have relentlessly sought new innovations to create the most precise ball possible.

“For the upcoming season, we’ve redesigned the shell to once again feature the full-length star panels that originally made it so iconic, but with a brand new embossed configuration for improved aerodynamics. We can’t wait to see it in action on the feet of some of the best players in the world.”

Guy-Lauren Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, said: “The launch of the new Official Match Ball is always an exciting milestone for fans and players as we prepare for another thrilling season. The iconic design of these new balls evokes memories of the magical moments we have experienced over the years, while the cutting-edge technology is a symbol of the constant evolution and premium positioning that characterises these competitions.”

As part of the ongoing partnership between adidas and Common Goal, 1% of all global net sales of adidas footballs – including these latest products – will support initiatives that create lasting social change in underserved communities and help create a better and more inclusive future through football.

The new official match balls are available to purchase starting today in Adidas stores, selected retail stores and online at adidas.com.
