Girls tennis recap: Cardinals narrowly lose to Storm 4-3 – West Central Tribune

WILLMAR – The Willmar girls tennis team lost a Central Lakes Conference match against Sauk Rapids 4-3 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals earned their points at No. 1 and No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles.

In the No. 1 singles, Kennedy beat Mara Sydney Entner 6:4, 6:1. In the No. 3 singles, Emily Floren won, defeating Brielle Karasch 6:2, 6:3. In the No. 3 doubles, Leiah Arens and Nora Nesgen beat Ella Mrozek and Fiona Stang 6:1, 6:1.

Willmar continues conference play at Sartell on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Cardinals are currently 0-1 in conference play and 0-6 overall. Sauk Rapids is 1-0 in CLC play and 2-3 overall.

Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg swept Yellow Medicine East off the field at Granite Falls.

All matches were played in straight sets, but it was a tough contest with each side winning match points.

Emily McGinity of Benson/KMS defeated Kyla Smith in the 4th singles match 6-4, 7-5.

Benson/KMS hosts Melrose in a West Central Conference game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Benson. YME, 0-1 in the West Central Conference and 0-3 overall, continues its nonconference schedule against Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Morris.

In No. 1 doubles, Sadie Lacker and Gertie Sieg teamed up to beat Jenna Butkowski and Ramona Lurken-Tydrik 6-2, 6-4. In No. 3 doubles, Camryn Olesen and Macy Moen beat Hailey Hammond and Annabelle Lester of Melrose 6-1, 6-0.

LQPV/DB will play against Morris/Chokio-Alberta in Morris on Thursday at 4 p.m.
