First details about the plot and characters of Dan Trachtenberg’s BADLANDS have leaked online

In June, it was announced that 20th Century Studios and director Dan Trachtenberg are developing a new standalone Predator Film in addition to a prey Sequel starring Elle Fanning, and the first plot details have now been shared online via ^ “AvPGalaxy.net”.

The project is currently filming in New Zealand under the working title “Backpack,” and thanks to a leaked casting call, we have an intriguing logline and details on the two main characters.

“A groundbreaking film in which one of the two main storylines explores the complex bond between two very different sisters. Their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue different paths and missions.”

The lead roles will apparently be played by twin sisters, which means that Fanning – assuming these are her characters – will be playing a double role.

“The first, Thia, identifies as female or non-binary, open ethnicity, mid-20s – mid-40s. Thia has spent most of her life in a lab and is now embarking on her first big adventure in the world. She is incredibly smart, witty, enthusiastic and unflappable. She has an innate disregard for danger, not because she is fearless, but simply because she is naive. Strong comedic skills are required. // The other sister, Tessa, has a militant intensity when it comes to achieving her family’s goals and mission objectives. She won’t let anything stop her, not even her twin sister.”

What preythere is also a direct sequel to the 2022 film, although details are still scarce. Reports suggest it will return to the film’s original setting, and star Amber Midthunder is expected to reprise her lead role as Naru.

Trachtenberg said in an interview with ComicBook.com last year.

“For everyone who’s asked me about sequels, that’s the thing, a lot of times someone does something cool and the sequel is just… and then the next part, and then you think, oh, well, that’s just the continuation of the cool thing. It wasn’t. And yeah, when you think about what sequels could be, the main conversation has always been and will always be, what can we do that is also something special that hasn’t happened before. Not just for the Predator franchise, but for this genre in particular. Can we still do something cool?”
