GTA 6 release date – Two major reasons why Grand Theft Auto 6 could be delayed | Gaming | Entertainment

The fall 2025 release date for GTA 6 could be in jeopardy as Rockstar parent company Take-Two makes a big game announcement. During the recent Gamescom event in Cologne, open-world crime game Mafia: The Old Country was revealed by developer Hangar-13. With Hangar-13 being under the Take-Two banner, this has led to speculation that GTA 6 could be delayed until 2026 to avoid a collision between the two high-profile game releases. Meanwhile, another leak suggests that Rockstar Games is planning to release a streamlined version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. With the new port of Red Dead Redemption 2 also likely to release in 2025, this is another reason why some people believe Grand Theft Auto 6 will be delayed.

Mafia: The Old Country will be fully revealed this December, meaning we’ll have a better idea of when exactly the game will make its debut.

If 2025 is mentioned as the release date, it would not be a surprise if this had an impact on the launch of GTA 6.

As for the possible Red Dead 2 port, an alleged trailer for PS5/Xbox Series X|S was recently shared on X (via GBNews).

“Is Rockstar Games up to something?” reads the accompanying tweet. “Taken from a now-deleted Reddit post about a PS5 and Xbox Series X version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Bully was just reviewed for the same consoles, so who knows.”

The trailer ends with the confirmation of a release date for the current hardware generation in March 2025.

While the original post claims the project may have been abandoned, there is speculation that it could be revived if it looks like GTA 6 will be delayed.

With a game as ambitious as GTA 6, optimization issues can easily arise towards the end of development, so having a few alternative game releases in the pipeline can be a pretty smart move.

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonidas, which is located in Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI comes to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-drenched streets of Vice City and beyond, in the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer gives fans an aerial look at some of the map locations. These include locations based on the Florida Keys as well as the beach and more.

Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the locations and some gameplay in the next GTA 6 trailer, which is rumored to be released on October 4th.
