Teenage killer lures three men to a Glock exchange demonstration and then executes them all – Crime Online

A jury in the US state of Indiana convicted a man who murdered three people at the age of 16 while demonstrating how to convert a Glock into a machine gun.

Caden Smith, now 19, was found guilty Friday of three counts of murder, robbery, possession of a machine gun and possession of methamphetamine, among other charges, according to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.

Indy Star reports that Smith killed 17-year-old Abdulla Mubarak, 18-year-old Joseph Thomas and 22-year-old Michael James on October 12, 2021.

Police discovered the victims with gunshot wounds on a grassy path near the 4400 block of South Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Investigators found several shell casings at the scene.

“Officers collected over fifty 9mm cartridge cases and unfired 9mm bullets at the scene,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said, according to court documents.

The murders sparked fears that there might be a serial killer in the city, but police quickly dismissed these fears.

Weeks later, police arrested Smith after gathering evidence from witness statements and phone records.

Text messages indicated that Smith lured the victims to the field over two nights to demonstrate how a Glock switch works, turning the weapon into a machine gun. Prosecutors said Smith used the demonstration as an opportunity to murder and rob the men. Detectives later found the murder weapon in Smith’s home.

“It has been a long and difficult road for these families, but thanks to the tireless efforts of investigators, assistant district attorneys and a variety of agencies, justice has been achieved for Abdullah, Joseph, Michael and their families,” Marion County District Attorney Ryan Mears said in a press release.

“The families of Abdullah, Joseph and Michael will never be able to see them grow up and live their lives. This verdict confirms that Smith will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for the crimes he committed.”
