Criminal court clerk presents new app

Criminal court clerk presents new app

Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean introduces a new app that provides a variety of legal information and court reminders for defendants

To help reduce recidivism, particularly failure to appear, the Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office has announced the release of a new smartphone app: Hamilton County Judicial Services.

Vince Dean, Clerk of Criminal Court, said, “The app will provide a new way for our office and other justice services to connect with Hamilton County residents and provide information quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone.”

As the app’s popularity grows, more law enforcement agencies will add their services, he said.

The Hamilton County Judicial Services app was developed by GovApp, a brand of OCV, LLC. that specializes in developing mobile apps for clerks’ offices and public safety organizations across the country.

Mr Dean said the app provides quick access to things of public interest and is easy to use. With just a few clicks, users can access features such as:

Mr Dean said the failure to appear rate would be 10 per cent in 2023. He said: “That could represent a burden to taxpayers of over $100,000 in incarceration fees alone. That does not include the cost of the clerk’s office processing each individual case or the additional burden on the defendant of posting additional bail and paying new fees associated with the additional case.”

The app sends the defense attorney several reminders about his court dates.

The Hamilton County Judicial Services app is available for free download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Search for “Hamilton Judicial Services.”
