Valve leaks show that there may be multiple Half-Life games in development

Dataminers have revealed that Valve may have more than one Half-Life game in development.

These rumors started circulating after Tyler McVicker posted a video on YouTube detailing leaks and data about two Half-Life games in development. One project is reportedly in development for VR and the other is intended for a PC release.

The video began by claiming that Valve had opened a new testing branch for Half-Life 2, which usually happens when developers want to test features before a release.

Similar tests were conducted a year ago for an anniversary update to Half-Life, so the testing branch mentioned in McVicker’s report could mean that Valve is working on something new.

Fans already know about the project codenamed HLX, a Half-Life 3 game that is rumored to be currently in development and was originally reported by the same YouTuber.

McVicker later spoke about a reaction video from YouTuber Pyrocynical TV to his previous revelation of the Half-Life 3 rumors. Pyrocynical TV claimed that they knew about Valve’s Deadlock four years ago and knew that the team had two more games in the works in addition to Counter-Strike and Deadlock.

Because of Pyrocynical’s claim, McVicker did a little research and learned about “The Deckard,” an upcoming VR headset.

HLX wasn’t intended to be a VR title, but a game that demonstrates the Deckard’s capabilities would make sense. After all, Half-Life: Alyx was a demonstration of how the Valve Index works.

McVicker also shared some of his speculations based on older rumors, such as the idea of an asymmetric Half-Life game where one player plays VR and the other PC. These two games could interact with each other to incorporate cooperative elements.

The leaks match rumors that have been circulating for years.

Throughout the video, McVicker gave other clues that the Half-Life: Alyx team was somehow deeply involved in Half-Life development. For example, the tool that checks whether the build works, the Build Break Master, features an icon of Gordon Freeman holding a crowbar.

“The longer we wait, the more information comes out and it’s clear that the Half-Life franchise is currently in intensive development,” said the YouTuber.

In conclusion, McVicker explained that while his data mining project is taking up quite a bit of time, he plans to keep his subscribers updated every few weeks on newly discovered information.
