Homestead Complex Fire reaches 50% containment despite ongoing efforts

The Homestead Complex Fire is a combination of seven fires northeast of Glide. The total number of acres burned so far is 5,909. The fire is 50% contained and was caused by lightning.

Thanks to the favorable weather conditions on Monday, the fire departments were able to make progress in containing the fires. The firefighters are also optimistic about Tuesday and expect continued good results in their work on site.

Maximum temperatures on Tuesday will be between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius and relative humidity will be between 7 and 50%. The wind will be from the north-northwest at 16 to 24 km/h with gusts up to 40 km/h.

No one (2,076 hectares)
Demolition work will improve containment lines on the south side of the fire, while improvements will be made to indirect lines on the east side.

Horse Heaven Creek Fire (2,296 AD)
Crews completed tree removal on the east side on Monday. Helicopters were used yesterday to cool hot spots on the northern part of the fire and will continue to be used today to cool hot spots on the northern part as needed. Firefighters are expected to complete a direct fire line on the northeast side on Tuesday.

Bullpup fire (476 AD) and Fire at Fuller Lake (418 AD)
Hotshot crews are making great progress building a fire line on the north side of the Bullpup Fire, while favorable conditions on the Fuller Lake Fire are allowing firefighters to build a direct fire line.

Salmon 33 (275 ac.) 100% contained by August 24, 2024.

Reynolds Butte Fire (334 ac): 100% contained on August 22, 2024.

Lost Bucket Fire (34 ac.): 100% contained on July 29, 2024.

The closure order issued by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Roseburg District, for portions of BLM lands bordering the Umpqua National Forest emergency fire closure north of Steamboat remains in effect. The closure order can be viewed here: BLM Closure Order No. 06-15-24-06.
