AEW star thinks Casino Gauntlet match is “incredible” and “perfect”

A top AEW star has praised the promotion’s creation that has caught fans’ attention.

All In hosted the final Casino Gauntlet match. With entrants arriving at regular intervals, a countdown and the anticipation of surprise entrants, fans have hailed the stipulation as one of the most exciting new match types of the modern era and it was one of the most eagerly anticipated matches ahead of the show at Wembley Stadium.

Featuring Nigel McGuinness’ first match in nearly 13 years, the surprise appearance of NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr. and the arrival of Ricochet, the Gauntlet Match once again impressed and fans are already hoping that the next one won’t be too long in coming.

Speaking to Stephanie Chase, Orange Cassidy explained that he is as big a fan of the game as the spectators:

“When AEW first did one of these (Casino Gauntlet), I thought it was incredible. I dare say it’s one of the most perfect matches AEW has ever done. For the style and identity of AEW, that match is actually perfect. I was also really, really happy when they said they were going to do it for this show (All In 2024), specifically because it just presents an opportunity… it’s exciting too.

There’s an element of ‘I don’t know who’s coming out next,’ which is great for you and the fans. But for me, it’s horrible because I don’t know who’s coming out… I think it’s an exciting match for AEW… Probably in the future, probably one of our signature matches that people will recognize.”

The match was won by Christian Cage, who will have a chance at the World Championship in the future.

AEW is affected by timing problems

Due to the nature of events at Wembley Stadium, shows must end at 10pm due to the strict curfew. Although this was known in advance, the time of a match at All In was reduced.
