Only in Dade Video – NBC 6 South Florida

A disturbing video posted on social media by Only in Dade shows a man apparently abusing a dog on a balcony in downtown Miami.

At one point the man appeared to be waving a sharp object around and holding the dog.

According to a Miami Police Department spokesperson, Miami Police Department officers arrived at the scene on Tuesday along with Animal Control investigators who are currently conducting the investigation.

Police also confirmed that the dog was examined.

“The dog was examined and after evaluation no injuries or damage were found,” Miami police said.

Miami-Dade Animal Services also confirmed to NBC6 that they are investigating the incident and are grateful that the community brought the video to their attention.

“We are asking the person who filmed the incident to call 311 to provide and authenticate video evidence,” an animal welfare spokesperson said.

The circumstances of the incident and the identity of the man remain unclear.

Miami-Dade Animal Services also stressed that anyone who witnesses animal cruelty should report it as soon as possible.

“If you witness animal cruelty, it is important that you call 911 immediately,” the spokesperson added. “If you can safely obtain evidence such as video, do so and be prepared to turn it over to the police (911) and/or animal control (311).”
