3 women injured in weekend restaurant shooting in Nyack, NY

A frightening scene unfolded in Rockland County over the weekend when a shooting occurred at a popular restaurant. The shooting left several people injured and required immediate assistance from police and medical personnel.

Shooting at a restaurant in Nyack

The shooting in question occurred in Nyack, New York, on the night of Friday into Saturday.

According to a press release from the Clarkstown Police Department posted on their official Facebook page, Clarkstown Police were notified of the incident and arrived at the scene at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Filming took place at Cy’s Restaurant & Lounge, which, according to its website, is a “Haitian fusion restaurant that combines the best flavors of the rich Haitian culture with typical Jamaican dishes.”

The restaurant is a popular spot and has also received a lot of praise on Yelp and Google, holding an impressive score of 4.9/5 stars on Google reviews. The restaurant also posted a statement about the event on its Facebook page.

When police and emergency services arrived on the scene, they found a woman lying on the ground in front of the bar with gunshot wounds to her leg and stomach. The woman, whose identity was not known, was immediately given medical attention before being taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

Police officers on the scene quickly began investigating the incident. The first important information they received was that two other women had also been shot in the incident. Both women suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, but were able to transport themselves to the same hospital.

Although all three women were seriously injured, none of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Police continue investigation

Currently, police are still investigating the shooting, but little is known. The suspect is still at large, although police have released a description of the suspect.

According to the press release, the suspect is “a dark-skinned man with dreadlocks.” The perpetrator is also said to have been wearing a black mask. The police are also working without a clear motive for the shooting, but it does not appear to have been a “random act of violence.”

Clarkstown Police also say the public is not in immediate danger. Clarkstown Police are also accepting information about the shooting from the public if anyone can assist with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau at the following address: (845) 639-5840.
