MACON – Mercer University set a new fall enrollment record with 9,082 students enrolling on opening day, up 1.5% from last fall’s comparable number.

Final fall enrollment numbers, which increase from opening day, will be released in early November after registration for two-semester fall programs is complete.

Major factors in the increase in enrollment were increases in the university’s law and medical schools, as well as in its graduate programs in education.

“The University’s record enrollment numbers this fall are the result of a team effort led by professional staff who believe that Mercer’s mission can be advanced by the exceptional students who choose an environment of academically gifted and service-oriented Mercerians,” said Mercer President William D. Underwood.
