Garmin launches two smartwatches to take on the Apple Watch Ultra

Garmin launches two smartwatches to take on the Apple Watch Ultra

The Garmin Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 smartwatches have just been announced. Garmin is releasing several smartwatches throughout the year, and these latest ones seem to be two of the most exciting. Both the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 offer robust features that will allow them to compete with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The Fenix 8 is Garmin’s latest premium multisport GPS smartwatch and is available in multiple sizes with two different display options. The new AMOLED version is available in 43mm, 47mm and 51mm, while the version with Always-On MIP display is available in 47mm and 51mm.

Battery life ranges from up to 10 days on the 43mm version to an incredible 48 days on the 51mm MIP size. The watches feature new sensor protection to prevent leaks and are rated for dives up to 40 meters, making them suitable for scuba and freediving.

Thanks to the integrated speaker and microphone, you can make calls using the Garmin Messenger app when you pair the watch with a compatible phone. The watch also has a wireless voice command function.

Software upgrades include improved performance features with targeted four- to six-week strength training sessions for skiing, surfing and trail running, and a new mapping interface with custom map layers for improved navigation.

Featuring a rugged design and an integrated LED flashlight, the Fenix 8 starts at $999 and is available with a variety of straps and finishes.

The Garmin Enduro 3 is a lightweight, powerful GPS smartwatch with the best solar battery life in its class. It has a 51mm titanium bezel with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and can last up to 320 hours in GPS mode and up to 90 days in smartwatch mode. It has a comfortable UltraFit nylon band, so it’s well suited to rugged sports and all-weather wear.

Featuring an integrated LED flashlight that can be controlled from the watch display, the Enduro 3 also offers trail-specific features, dynamic round-trip routing with improved navigation, and advanced strength training plans to help you reach your goals faster.

The Euduro 3 retails for $899 and will only be available in black at launch.

The Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 seem to be promising new smartwatches for sports and outdoor enthusiasts as well as everyday users. As much as we like the “Ultra” smartwatches from Apple and Samsung, it’s nice to see more competition in this space.

You can now purchase the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 from the Garmin website.
